Sorry, had to throw that in there because as soon as I wrote "desire" the first thing I thought of was "a Streetcar Named Desire." Corny? Sure. But it's my blog. :)
Okay, so George and I were driving back from Deaconess yesterday after having Little George's PKU done, when I had a thought come to me. There are so many little hole-in-the-wall shops downtown, the majority of which I've never entered. Wouldn't it be fun/cool/great exercise to go to all of those shops this year? Why,yes... yes it would! I ran the idea past my hubby, who was, to say the least, not nearly as excited as I. However, not to be deterred, I continued with my excitement, which basically told him he's going to endure this task with his beautiful wife and lovely children! Now that that's settled... I'm thinking I might start a new blog made specifically for this task. The goal is to go to all of the shops and such that are alluring when we're downtown. There are a few places we will not be entering, however. They are as follows:
1.) No bars
2.) No banks
3.) No "nasty" stores
4.) Nothing promoting paraphernalia of any type
5.) Nothing industrial or overly commercialized (car garages, gas stations, etc.)
6.) Any place that is not appealing beyond the front door
Now, I did have to clarify to my husband that this does NOT mean we can simply stand at the threshold of a doorway, look in, mark it off the list, and continue onward. Nope. Nor, does this mean that we can merely peek in the window and move on. Much to his dismay. I'm talking about going in, checking stuff out, seeing if there's anything culturally interesting, and then leaving after my curiosity has been piqued! Pretty exciting, eh?!
Just off the top of my head, the boundaries that will likely produce the best cultural shot of the city will be:
North: Convention Center/Riverfront Park
South: 2nd Avenue
East: Browne St.
West: Maple St.
Seems like a lot of ground to cover in a little less than a year. We may have to modify it a bit as time creeps by, but we'll see what we come up with over the course of the year.
Crazy? My husband says "yes". But I'm still convinced as much now today as ever before that he loves me and my quirkiness and spontaneity. :) Fair enough.

What a goal! Not one I would make, but hey, to each his own right? Have fun!
