An Eclectic Mix From Us

Easter weekend was spent at my mom's and step-dad's house in Omak and we had a lot of fun. Madeleine had a lot of grandma and grandpa time because Tamieka was with her mom that weekend most of the time, though we did get to see her on Sat and Sun for a few hours each.

Easter morning I was awakened by the excited screeches of Madeleine when she found her Easter basket. Mommy and Daddy have an "in" with the Easter Bunny, so we made sure he knew that Madeleine would be in Omak and not in Spokane for Easter. We had one excited little girl on our hands when she realized Mommy and Daddy have enough clout with holidays extraordinaire to get the job done! And my deal with the Easter Bunny was that Madeleine would not receive too much candy, as we are all on a kick to get healthier here. The Easter Bunny gladly obliged! Sweet... we'll do business again next year. :)

Madeleine was up at 6:45 am and ready to hunt for eggs outside. Nevermind that it was close to 30 degrees outside... nevermind that she was wearing dress shoes with her jeans... nevermind that Mommy was tired... nevermind... well, you get the picture. So, here is our little bundle of joy with her basket and then out hunting like a hard-core little egg hunter. Shhhh... be vewy, vewy quiet. I'm hunting wabbit eggs!

FYI: You may notice, once again, that I forgot to post them in reverse order, so you're seeing the happenings in reverse. he he he he

My favorite dog in the whole wide world is Shaggy. I heart Shags! He's the coolest dog ever! Whenever I'm in Omak, I make sure Shaggy and I have ample snuggle time. And he gets so incredibly excited when I show up.

A little history on Shaggy: I had a chihuahua named Ralph that I bought my senior year in high school from a local pet store. Ralph was my constant companion; he went where I went. He was so cool, he wore a spiked collar. :) One day he started acting like he was sick, so I monitored him. He wasn't getting better, so I rushed him to the vet, where he died from a bacterial infection in his stomach. Little did I know that the entire litter from the pet store had the same infection, and they all died. I was so heartbroken over the loss of Ralph that my parents started to feel bad for me. They knew how much he meant to me (I had my Sr. pics taken with Ralph), and they knew how much I love animals. So my mom heard an ad on Party Line about a dog that was abandoned in Riverside, just a few miles north of Omak. She went to get the dog without me knowing, and brought him home for me.

I was in my room sleeping when she brought him home. She just set him down on the floor and he sprinted through the house, straight to my room, jumped up on my bed, and started licking my face like crazy!! I was instantly in love with this dog, and promptly named him Shaggy because of how long his hair was. Ever since, we've been inseparable (except for the fact that I live in Spokane, but I go home quite often).

Here he is... :)

Then it was time for Uncle Brandon to stop by. He hasn't yet been able to hold his new nephew (only nephew!) until Easter! I think he might like Little George just a tad. What do you think?

And, last but not least, here are some pictures of the kids over the last couple of weeks. No particular order here, just adding in some cute photos of our babies. :) My niece Tamieka is also in there. She'll be 9 in November!! Where does the time go??!

And I must warn you... the outfit you see Madeleine in with the hat was picked out entirely by her. And yes, she got to wear it outside of the house. I'm all about letting our children be creative, so even though I was cringing a bit, I let her be herself, and she loved it! Funny looks from people? Well, if there were, I failed to notice. And had I noticed, I don't care. :P I did, however, talk her out of the green/white polka dot shirt she wanted to wear over the striped shirt simply because that would have made more laundry for me. Laundry is my enemy. So, "no" on two shirts. All else is fair game, I suppose.

And one of my favorite pictures is the side profile you'll see of Little George. I love the curiosity his little face displays. Is this a sign of things to come?!

And... he's smiling now! He's quite the handsome little boy, I must say! Toothless grin and all.
