Catch up!

So, in these hectic times I'm playing catch up on my school work! I've managed to do 4 weeks' worth of work in about 4 hours. Yes, it's Sunday and I'm doing homework, but I have BYU TV on in the background and am listening to a talk right now on FHE. Clever, eh? I'm a mother, therefore, I can multi-task, AND I have eyes in the back of my head!!

Church was awesome today. It was my first Sunday in Relief Society in nearly 6 years. Yes, almost 6 years spent in Young Women and Primary. I started to miss being around old ladies! he he he Okay, I'll be nice. My most recent calling was teaching the CTR 5's (4 y/o kids...YIKES!!), which I was in for nearly 2 years. I loved teaching them. They helped me see things in a whole new perspective. Well, that, and they managed to change the subject every 17 seconds or so!! So, as of 2 weeks ago I was called to be the Relief Society Chorister. What is one of the things in life I love the most??! MUSIC!!! I have been singing in choirs since I was about a foot tall, and I've been playing music (trombone and clarinet, most proficiently, but other instruments not so proficiently) for roughly 15 years. My parents (mom, dad and step-dad, respectively) all pitched in for my birthday in January and bought me a Buffet R-13 wood clarinet. Hooooooooly COOOOOOWWWW! Talk about the cream of the crop in clarinets. Literally, if you try to find a comparable clarinet you won't. Hands down, this is the best of the best. So, in keeping with tradition of naming my instruments (we did it in school so as to personalize our musicianship) I have decided to name her Sophie. Why, you ask? Well, Sophie was my name in all 4 quarters of French class. My clarinet was made in France, therefore, it all fits together. Oddly enough I have yet to name my trombone, which is a Bach Stradivarius. Again, if you try to find a trombone of higher quality, you'd be hard-pressed! I have the F-attachment on my trombone, so my short little arms rarely see anything past 4th position. :o) I just haven't come across a name that is suitable for him. Or her. Which is it? I guess I'll decide that when I figure out a name.

In high school I had a trombone and clarinet that I borrowed from the school. Their names were Frankie (trombone) and Isabelle (clarinet). It was tough parting ways with them when I graduated, but I had no choice. Since naming your instrument something you've already used is creepy (kind of like re-using the name of a passed animal) I have to think of something more suitable.

So, anyway... back to the topic I started out on. Or the second one, actually... my calling in church. When Bro. Sands told me what my new calling would be George and I looked at each other and busted up laughing. He was understandably confused since hysterical laughter is not commonplace in receiving new callings. By the way, when I was called to be the YW President I nearly vomited. Literally. Anyway, we laughed because when I first joined the church in Dec. 2000 I was called almost immediately to be the RS Chorister. I loved it! So now I feel like I've come full circle in my callings. Back to the beginning. That's okay by me! Like I said, I love, love, LOVE music. Now I just have to get used to being around the old ladies again. he he he Sorry!! Couldn't help it! I love our ward and the people with whom I interact. They're all very down-to-Earth, giving, loving. You name it. We're an amazing ward. :)

Wow! Time flies. This was a nice break from homework, but alas, it's time to get back to it. I want to be in bed by 11:00, so I have a little over 30 minutes to crank out a paper. It can be done. Oh YES! It CAN be done!! :o) Oh, and if none of this makes sense to you it's because I'm exhausted and ready for bed. Perhaps it's the best time to talk about what I'm thinking! LOL

Good night! I'll post pictures of Sophie and what's-its-name a little later on. And if anyone has suggestions for a name I'm all ears! Just no non-human names like Bubble Gum or Snookums. I have to be able to say it without cringing...
