So, even though I posted the little survey about George, I thought I should post something with some more personal content about our week. So here it is...
Last Saturday I spent the evening with some of my good friends from work. It was me, Corlyn, Janenne, Kim and Julie. We had an absolute blast just hanging out and talking, eating and playing games. Let me just tell you that when we are all together, we are super funny!
The night started out with... well, let me back up a bit. Friday night after work, Corlyn and I, along with Madeleine, drove to Coeur d'Alene to help Linda, one of our old co-workers (the one who trained me and was then promoted to another position), rearrange her new office at Lacrosse Health and Rehab (a sister facility). She was just promoted to Business Office Manager. I love Linda to pieces! She's hilarious. Anyway, we got there and I started to feel kind of sick. First my neck and back started to ache, then I was blasted with the chills! Completely out of the blue! Corlyn and I stopped at KFC before meeting with Linda so we could all eat and then get right to work, but when we got to Lacrosse I got super dizzy and just laid on Linda's office floor. I was miserable. Madeleine was patting my face and telling me it was okay. So, Linda asked me if I wanted to stay. I told her, "As much as I love being with you, Linda, this is the last place I want to be." She said she didn't blame me, and Corlyn agreed to take me back home and she planned to come out later in the week. I very dizzily walked to the car, sat down in the passenger seat, and relaxed. Then it hit me. I knew any second I was going to vomit. So, I ended up near some poor resident's window vomiting! I'm sorry!! Couldn't help it. It was just bile, but it wasn't pretty. I covered it up though, so give me some credit. Anyway, she got me back to the house and I locked Madeleine in my room with me so I could rest and she could play. Two hours later, save for a splitting headache and sore muscles, I was fine!
Okay, so now to Saturday. I was feeling kind of ill still, so I was 45 minutes late to Julie's. We sat around talking, which made me feel so much better! Thanks, ladies! Anyway, Janenne brought two games she's been talking about for a while. She brought Redneck Life and Trailer Park Wars. Oh my gosh!! Talk about hilarious! We played Trailer Park Wars and we each had a pair of redneck teeth! I laughed so hard I cried all of my mascara off!! It was an absolute riot! The game was so fun, but next time we're going to play Redneck Life. The gist of the game is that each player is a slum lord over their own trailer park. The object of the game is to collect the most pink flamingos for your park. Hilarious! I can't explain it well enough, but look it up online!
I love girl time. Especially with really fun people. So this was a fun-filled night with some of my greatest friends. We were talking about a trip to Seattle together to go to Ikea. That would be fun! But for now we'll have our monthly get-together and do something fun that way.
Our living room is coming along. All of the sheetrock is up and most of it is mudded and taped. I love my husband! He is doing so much and spending so much time on it, and it's really looking great! I'm so excited about getting the paint and carpet done, I can hardly stand it! George is really making our home look nice. I try to help when I can, but I have other things to tend to also. I promise when I get my desktop computer back up and running I'll be posting nearly a bazillion pictures!
The Biggest Loser started on Tuesday. Wow! What amazing people! This is going to be a great season!! I went to Corlyn's to wach it and we had a great time. She and I are so into that show, it's almost ridiculous. But even Madeleine was getting into it. :) And she calls Corlyn "Cornie". She spent the night telling me that she loves her Cornie. LOL Corlyn is so good with Madeleine. :)
Wednesday I started my new term for school. My classes are so awesome, I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about them! I have Developmental Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. Awesome!! One class has an audio seminar, which is totally new to me. So, the instructor tonight was trying to get my name right. She was close, but I had to spell it out to her. She finally got it, but then kept botching it, so I told everyone to call me Rhi. :) Easy enough, I thought. Then it came out Ray. LOL I can't win for losing. Anyway, this instructor is a Forensic Psychologist, which is what I'm in school to become. She has given me some great pointers, and she'll be quite the asset to me! I'm so stinking excited!
Our traveling social worker, Dale, worked his last day with us on Wednesday. He is my self-appointed career specialist. He has invested a lot of time in me, giving me tips on good places to work, the best ways to get a job, and lots of other stuff. He also offered to be a reference for me when I need one. I really appreciate that. It's important to have quality professional references.
Corlyn told me the other day that, as much as she loves having me around at work, I need to find a job that pays me what I'm worth. I have to say honestly that this is the first time I've ever had a boss give me permission to find a better job!! I adore Corlyn, and it's hard to think that I won't be at Franklin forever, but I do need to move forward and utilize my degrees. So, I called Spokane Mental Health today and left a message for a lady in the volunteer dept. Dale told me one of the things I should do is volunteer for the crisis hotline. I am passionate about helping people in need, so this would be right up my alley. She called me back and left me a message and said she is really excited to have me come in and apply and interview. Wow! What an enthusiastic response from someone I've never met. So, I'll be going there to apply for that. Why am I going to volunteer, you ask? Well, if I want a good job after graduation, I need to put in some time now. I need to get my foot in the door. I want them to recognize my potential when I'm qualified for positions there, and I'll have that upper hand over other applicants. So I hope I get a volunteer position there. Most social worker positions require some experience, so this will give me that, and it will also give me insight on how they operate. Cross your fingers and say your prayers for me!
My, my, my... this is a lengthy post! I'll tell you quickly that Madeleine informed me that she wants a car. I said, "You want a car?" She shook her head yes. I told her we'd visit that option in a few years after she has a job. :) Also, everything she says now is "I love..." She'll say, "Mommy, I love this juice!" "I love my chair!" "I love these eggs!" And if I tell her something's my favorite, say, the air freshener I have in my car, she'll say, "That's my favorite!" LOL I love being a mommy!!
Okay, I'm going to stop now before you get thoroughly bored! I'll post more later, and remember... pictures are soon to follow!
Have a wonderful night!
