Okay, I stole this from someone else's friend's blog... Crystyne, I admit it. But I thought this survey (and the answers provided) was just hilarious!! So, here it is... a survey on your experience in high school. Relax, hold your hat on, and enjoy the ride!
Fill this out about your high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!! Re-post with the name of high school and graduating year.
1.Did you marry someone from your high school?
Thank goodness, NO!!! George and I have a funny little ditty about my high school heart throb! LOL
2.Did you car pool to school?
I lived one block from the high school, so I walked. But, then I got my first car my sophomore year and I was driving in style! Yup, turn it on, drive to school, and it wasn't even warm by the time I got there!
3.What kind of car did you have?
Oh, for shame... I had a 1984 Ford Escort that would start when it wanted to and DIE when it wanted to, which was far more often than starting and running successfully. Then, my dad was kind enough to buy me a car for, like, $100.00 or so from a friend who needed the money. Picture this love machine... dark brown Toyota Tercel station wagon (from some part of the 80's)... WITH an alarm clock on the dashboard... WITH underwear hanging from the alarm clock (I'm not kidding... *sigh*)... WITH rusted out wheel wells... WITH a manual transmission that was backwards (reverse was up where 1st gear normally is). Yup, I was one styling driver back then! We got this car, as I said, from my dad's friend who needed the money. You could not have paid me enough to get near that car, let alone IN IT! But, my dad, being the kind man that he is, told me to "just take it for a test drive." In an effort to spare the feelings of his friend, who was nearby, and my dad's hopeful feelings, I mustered up my response. "I don't like brown." I laid my head in the couch so as not to be seen laughing! After a GOOOOOOOD DEEEEEEEEEEEP CLEANING (or 27 of them!) I was willing to get in and test it out. It was a good little car, and surprisingly, after a LOT of modifications, everyone else thought it was pretty cool too. :) See? A happy ending, after all.
4. What kind of car do your drive now?
2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, sans underwear on the dashboard!
5.It's Friday night...where are YOU (then)?
Over at Teresa's or Shawna's or at the bowling alley. Not much to do in Omak, let me tell ya!
6.It's Friday night..where are you (now)?
At home with my husband and daughter! Or on a date night with Madeleine at a babysitter's. But that's rare. Usually we're plopped on the couch watching a good movie or something on TRU TV. Or Disney.
What kind of job did you have in high school?
Which time? Okay, so I started out at KFC, for which I had to give up playing softball for one season. I loved softball and hated KFC. I got fired from there just weeks after starting because I was too slow. Yup, I couldn't remember if it was mashed potatoes and cole slaw with a 10-piece bucket meal, or if it was their choice, and then the sizes... oh, the sizes, they threw me off. Was it a Little Bucket Parfait they wanted? Does anyone know what time I get off? Huh? I've only been here an hour? Hmph! The good thing was I got to play softball the next year...
So, then I was fortunate enough to get on with Burger King, after having had anxiety about my abilities to work in fast food. What? Do you think there's much else to work at as a high schooler than fast food in Omak? Oh, you're so wrong... So, I worked there all throughout high school and ended up transferring to Spokane when I moved here for college. I got out of fast food very quickly... I had had enough.
Oh yeah, I forgot about my side job at the gun club! Now, that was an awesome job! Ember and Breeze and I would be out in the freezing cold calling out "Dead!" or "Lost!", depending on whether they shooters hit them or not. I liked that one...
8.What do you do now?
I'm a mother and full-time college student, and up until recently, employed full-time. Hmph! Their loss!
9.Were you a party animal?
Yikes! Not in the least! I was too afraid of the consequences!
10.Were you considered a flirt?
Nope. Believe it or not, I was super shy! Yup, that was me. It took a lot to get me to talk to people outside my group of friends.
11.Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
Yes, yes and OH YES! I started playing clarinet in the 6th grade, after I was told my arms were too short to play the trombone like I wanted. But, it should be known that the same band director who told me that was the same orchestra director who came to our band a few years later looking for a trombone player. My band director recommended me, so Gary's (the one who originally said my arms were too short for trombone) jaw dropped when he saw it was me and when he subsequently heard me play. Yeah, that was a good time in my life! I had picked up the trombone in 8th grade, then after that I filled in on any instrument that was needed. I've been singing most of my life and can remember singing in choir competitions back when I was in 3rd grade. Music has always been, and is still, a HUGE part of my life. Fortunately, Madeleine has also picked up on music too!
12. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Heck no! I just didn't have it in me!
13. Can you sing the fight song?
"Hail to our Pioneers! Hail to our school so dear! We're out to do our best for O-M-A-K!" That's about all I remember, other than the second verse, which is "O...M...A...K...P.I.O.N.E.E.R.S, Omak, Pioneers, GO, FIGHT, WIN!" But, I could probably bust it out on the trombone for you!! I was in every band known to my school and we played the fight song endlessly, so you can bet I can still play it!
14.Who was/were your favorite teacher(s)?
Mr. Larsen and Mr. King, my band directors in high school. They were great! Also, Mr. Williams in 9th grade Algebra. He taught me to enjoy math. Oh, and Mr. Trondsen. He was the epitome of the monotone voice!! Mr. Smith would always exclaim, "Bonjour, bonjour Sophie!" as I passed him in the halls. So he was cool too. He made learning French fun.
15. Where did you sit during lunch?
In the band room, of course! That's where we band nerds stuck together!
16. What was your school's full name?
Are you ready for this one? Creativity at its finest... okay, here it is. Omak High School!
17. What was your school mascot?
The Pioneer. So telling of my future religious choice, eh? Little did I know.
18.If you could go back and do it again, would you?
No, thank you. I endured enough the one time through.
19. What do you remember most about graduation?
It was long, especially for only having 92 students graduate. They managed to drag it out for a long time, announcing who got what scholarships, who was going where for college, and so forth.
20.Who did you take to prom Senior year?
Josh, my boyfriend at the time.
21. Did you have fun at Prom?
Yeah, a bunch of us couples rented a limo and went to a mountain resort for dinner. I couldn't imagine eating anything on the menu, so of the best choices, I ordered quail. Much to my dismay, it came on a plate with its little wings and legs outstretched as if to have just been told "Freeze! Put your arms in the air, and back away from the vehicle slowly!" LOL Ember had the same thing... she was just as appalled as I was!
22.Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with?
Not much. Maybe once or twice a year when he sees I'm on my g-mail account and sends me an IM. I don't get on there much, so it's not very often. :)
23.Are you planning on going to your 20 year reunion?
You betcha! I had fun at my 10-year, and I made some friends there that would never have happened when we were all in high school together.
24.Do you still talk to people from school?
Sometimes through e-mail or run-ins at Wal-Mart in Omak. There was a comment made by one of my "friends" that I thought I was better than the rest of them because I moved away from Omak (while they were all still there), so they stopped talking to me. Am I happy with my decision to move to Spokane? I wouldn't change it for the world! I've made true friends here, that are supportive of decisions I've made. :O) Funny how the world is put into perspective after 10 years.
