Buggies And Germies!

Madeleine has been feeling under the weather for about a week. She had a rash all over her body starting on Thursday, which subsided Sunday evening. (On that note, I'm sorry we missed church, but she was miserable. Greater good. Mommy first, then everything else.) Anyway, she had the rash all over her body, she had this huge bruise-like pattern on her back last week that cropped up overnight and went away in 2 days, she has had fevers off and on for the past week, and she has not been sleeping at night. George and I finally decided it was time to get her in to see the dr and I'm so glad we did. Turns out she has strep throat! Who would have thunk it??! Madeleine never once complained about not feeling good, but Dr. Suzy said her throat looked like it was on fire! Wow... makes me feel like a bad mommy! But, what do you do?

So, while we were at the dr, Madeleine was less than pleased. She was not in the mood to have her ears looked at, so I had to hold her hands down. Then when Dr. Suzy went to look at her throat, Madeleine had a coniption! She was not happy with that at all.... until.... Dr. Suzy *showed* her the "germies" she got for testing! Then Madeleine was like, "That's the coolest thing ever!" She was absolutely amazed by the germies on the stick! When Dr. Suzy went to test the culture, I told Madeleine she just had some buggies in her throat. She wanted to know how the buggies flew in her throat without her knowing. Things that make you go hmmmm....

We got home from the dr and I just stayed home with her, seeing how I couldn't very well take her to daycare. I gave her a dose of her antibiotics and she promptly fell asleep! Wow! That hasn't happened in what seems like forever! She slept for nearly 6 hours, 3 of which I slept with her. Funny how not getting sleep at night takes a toll on your body! I woke up just in time to make dinner and log on for class.

Madeleine seems to be bouncing back already! She's full of it tonight, and for the first night in awhile, it's not "piss and vinegar" that she's full of!! LOL Hopefully she'll be out all night with her next round of medicine. :) One tired mama can only hope...
