Then I took Madeleine to my work for an Easter egg hunt. There were about 10 kids there, and the eggs were hidden all throughout the dining room. It was raining outside, so I thought that was a much better arrangement. Plus, the residents got to watch the kids, which they loved! Madeleine loved it because she walked away with a chocolate rabbit, a box of candy, and 13 dyed eggs. She cleared the glitter completely off one of the eggs and put it on her face, in her hair, everywhere it could go!
After that, a co-worker and I decided we were going to take our kids to Mt. Spokane Community Church for their egg hunt. They had a gigantic inflatable slide, inflatable basketball hoop and inflatable soccer kicking area, each enjoyed for free. They also had baskets you could sign up to win (not my lucky day, I'm afraid...), and a fire truck for the kids to play in. They had a bouncy castle, also free to play in. Madeleine got in that and stood there for about a minute, then decided she was done.
They also had an Easter egg hunt with 10,000 eggs! Holy crimoly! They had it sectioned off for different age categories, so I took Madeleine to the toddler area, under 3 years. The kids were to pick up eggs and open them as they found them. The eggs had candy in them, but some had stickers. If there was a sticker, they got a prize. Well, Madeleine ended up with 3 stickers! So, she walked away with a bunch of candy, a set of 3 alligator bath toys, a baseball/bat set, and a water/glitter filled baton. Cool stuff! She really had a great time today! I just wish I had remembered to take my camera! Dang it!
Oh, one thing about the slide. Madeleine wouldn't go up it herself, so I thought she might have freaked out at the top if she got there. I was able to go up it with her, and then I sat down, sat her on my legs, and asked her if she was ready. She said she wanted to go down herself, so with some hesitation, I set her down. She was all ready to go, so I gave her a gentle push, and she loved it!! She flew down the slide and wanted to go again! What a brave little girl!
Last night we had Shauna, Rob, and Shauna's 3 kids over to dye eggs. Below, you will see some pictures from that. We all had a great time, and when we finished, we watched the movie "Fireproof." If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!
I'm thankful for this season and for the knowledge I have of my savior, Jesus Christ. The egg hunts and candy are just minor perks for the weekend, but knowing the my Savior died for me and was resurrected so that I might have life is what it's really all about!
