Charity Opportunity!

Sorry I haven't written in a few days! I will get pictures of Madeleine's birthday up as soon as my mom e-mails them to me. I was too busy and totally forgot to get the camera out. So, stay tuned for that. Onto the point of this post.

A close family friend of mine in Omak was diagnosed on Monday with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He has been experiencing numbness on the right side of his body for awhile now, and after much pushing from my mom, he decided to go to a neurologist to see what the problem was. Bam! MS. He's handling it alright, but Scott's not one to let his emotions out much. So, mom is checking on him more frequently than previously done.

So, the charity opportunity I'm talking about is this... I was at the gym a couple days ago and saw a pamphlet on a charity ride for MS. It is a 150-mile ride, from Mullan, ID to Plummer, ID over 2 days. You ride from M to P on one day, then the next day you ride the same route in reverse to get back to M. So, you're riding 75 miles per day. This ride happens Sept, 12-13, which are Sat and Sun. Now, normally I don't do stuff like this on Sunday's, but since Scott's diagnosis, I feel this new urge to do something charitable like that.

George and I are set on doing this... the thing is, we need some more riders to create a team. We're going to start riding A LOT so we can get our butts (literally) in shape to do this ride. We have 4 months to do it. I'm asking that if anyone is interested in doing this with us, we would LOVE the teamwork! Please, if you think you might want to do it, let me know ASAP!! The Cd'A Casino is sponsoring the ride, so they have discounted rooms at the hotel for riders. We would just need to pay for our own rooms. Maybe share costs with a team??

The other thing is that we need to raise at least $250.00 to do the ride. The more, the merrier, but $250.00 is the minimum to do it. If you do not want to ride, but would like to support MS, please make donations to us. Since they don't take the money immediately, we are just going to set up an additional account at the bank entitled MS Funds and write a check off that account to the MS Foundation at riding time. :) No donation is too small, and no donation will be unappreciated! We need your support!! So, please let us know if you would like to help by riding and/or donating.

Thank you!!

Wow! Man if I thought I could do it I would, but the last time I rode 20 miles in one day I couldn't walk 2 days later...of course I didn't prep myself. MS is interesting...do they know what causes it? Seems like it can hit someone healthy instantly! Dang I would love to help, but I can't right now :o( Let me know if there is a need for anything else...I can donate cookies I make? I know that sounds silly...maybe I could sell them in a bake sale & then give the money to you. Let me think about it ok?
