Uplifting

Today was ward conference at church. It was such an uplifting day! We heard from Bishop Wilhelm, who spoke about watching for unexpected curves up ahead in life. Basically, by tuning in to the promptings of the Spirit, we are arming ourselves with the ability to anticipate curves, and to be aware of them when they approach.

Then we heard from President Lee, our Stake President. His talk was on sacrifice and how we can make sacrifices for the Lord and those around us. I love listening to President Lee talk because he keeps it interesting and brings to mind different ways to view a situation. He and Bishop Wilhelm are very inspired men, and I'm thankful to have them as our leaders.

Third, Gospel Doctrine was interesting, as always. Elnora is such a great teacher in that class! She puts her whole heart into teaching us what we need to learn. I feel that she is aware of, and is led by, the Spirit.

Finally, third hour was combined Priesthood and Relief Society. Last Sunday we were given the charge to read Moroni 10 each day throughout the week so we would be prepared to discuss it today. I have to admit, I didn't read it every day, but I did a few times. I noticed a huge difference in my day when I read it vs. when I didn't.

So, the discussion was basically all of us talking about different parts of chapter 10. I felt compelled to talk about Moroni 10:4, which is about praying with a sincere heart. There are times when I feel rushed to pray because I'm tired, but this verse just reiterated to me that Heavenly Father truly appreciates it when we set aside a specific time for prayer, not just whenever it's convenient for us.

We had such a great discussion today, and it makes me want to delve more in-depth into the scriptures. That is one thing I've always taken for granted, but having focused on one section makes me realize that there is so much more than what's on the surface. I am definitely going to do better at reading and internalizing, as well as praying for answers to my questions.

I will have you know that I took this picture from LDS.org and tried to edit it. I did edit it to not have the "internet edition" part, but then it wouldn't load on my blog. So, here it is in raw form. :) More honest that way, too.

If you need a good refresher on the Gospel, I suggest you read Moroni 10.
