A Night Out For Moms

Maryanne was nice enough to watch Madeleine for us for a few hours yesterday while I worked later than expected (ridiculous, last-minute conference call), and the combination of all of our kids together was nerve-wracking, at best.

Last night George and Jon both had to work late. Jon got home later than usual, or what I think is usual for their family, anyway. George got done around 9:30, but then got called out on an emergency, which put him an hour behind. No worries on either account. All's well.

So, Maryanne and I proposed an idea to "the boys." They watch a movie together (I brought SWAT and Transformers to entice them on our idea!) and Maryanne and I take some girl time away from the kids. They were very willing to do that, thankfully! We wanted to go to Wonderland and either play some Mini Golf or hop in the batting cage and strain some muscles. Unfortunately, they closed at 11:00, and it was 10:45 by the time we were able to leave her house.

What's the next best thing? Dessert, of course! Off to Shari's we went. Maryanne had the Cheesecake Sampler, and I had the Chocolate Lava Cake. They were so good, but incredibly rich! We were definitely full of sugar by the time we left. But, it was good dessert and great conversation. I love being able to get out and just hang out with her, sans kids! :) Don't get me wrong, and I know I can speak for Maryanne here too, we LOVE our kids, but there's something to be said about having time without the kids every now and then. A definite must! :)

Check out the slices of heaven we indulged in last night! Won't need to have sugar for about a month after these desserts!
